Batgirl star Leslie Grace breaks silence on film’s cancellation

Warner Bros. Discovery shocked the entertainment world this week by announcing it had pulled the plug on live-action bat girl film, a $90 million project that was already in the final stages of post-production. The film was intended for HBO Max, but has now been shelved completely and will not be released anywhere, Warner Bros. Discovery having instead chosen to cancel it for tax purposes. In the heights Breakout star Leslie Grace starred bat girl in the film, and she finally broke her silence on the shocking cancellation.

On Wednesday night, Grace took to Instagram to share photos from the bat girl production and express gratitude to the film’s cast and crew, as well as the fans who have supported the project from the start.

“Querida familia! In the wake of recent news about our film bat girl, I’m proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our amazing actors and tireless crew put into this film for 7 months in Scotland,” Grace wrote. “I feel blessed to have worked among great absolutes and forged lifelong relationships in the process! Every bat girl fan – THANK YOU for the love and belief, which allowed me to take the course and become, as Babs said it best, “my own fucking hero!” bat girl for life!”

Grace starred in bat girl alongside JK Simmons, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser. The film was directed by the duo Billal Fallah and Adil Al Arbi, the filmmakers behind bad boys for life and episodes of Ms. Marvel.

“We are saddened and shocked by the news,” Fallah and Al Arbi wrote in a statement on Tuesday. “We still can’t believe it. As directors, it’s essential that our work be shown to the public, and although the film is far from finished, we want fans around the world to have had the “opportunity to see an embrace the final films themselves. Maybe one day they will insha/Allah.”

“Our amazing cast and crew did an amazing job and worked so hard to bring Batgirl to life,” they added. “We are forever grateful to have been part of this team. It was a dream to work with such fantastic actors as Michael Keaton, JK Simmons, Brendan Fraser, Jacob Scipio, Corey Johnson, Rebecca Front, and especially the great Leslie Grace, who portrays Batgirl with so much passion, dedication and humanity. Anyway, as big fans of Batman since we were little, it’s been a privilege and an honor to have been a part of the DCEU, even if only for a brief moment. . Batgirl for life.”
