Biggs Camera: A mainstay for film photography enthusiasts in Charlotte

In an ever-changing city like Charlotte, Biggs Camera carved out a role for itself that lasted 60 years.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Some things can be closely imitated, but never quite replicated. Cinema is making a comeback.

“We’re the oldest camera store in the Charlotte area and I think we’re the only place that actually deals with film,” Troy Tomlinson of Biggs Camera noted.

The texture, grain and color of the film attract young people to film cameras and film photography as a whole.

“When you’re shooting a roll of film, there’s not that instant gratification of knowing what you’ve got,” Tomlinson said.

In an ever-changing city like Charlotte, Biggs Camera carved out a role for itself that lasted 60 years. The shop offers everything for digital and film cameras, from lenses and filters to film and rental equipment.

The store aims to be useful to all photo enthusiasts, from professional photographers to amateurs who have just picked up a camera for the first time.

Biggs Camera is located at 805 S Kings Drive in Charlotte and is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The store is also present online, allowing customers to purchase or rent products from its website.
