Pequot Lakes Community Theater names cast for ‘Recommended Reading for Girls’
The casting for “Recommended Reading for Girls,” a heartwarming comedy-drama by Ellen Struve, was recently announced by the Pequot Lakes Community Theater.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on February 11 and 12 and at 2 p.m. on February 13. Tickets are available online at www.glapa.org or before showtime at the door.
“Recommended Reading for Girls” centers on Amy Saunders who already has a lot on her mind when she arrives in her childhood home. In shock from a recent layoff and a broken heart, she stays to help her mother through a series of chemo.
Somehow, all of Amy’s favorite childhood romance heroines, from A Little Princess to Heidi, have appeared in her house – and just to make matters even more puzzling, her sister, Jackie. , can also see them.
This show is recommended for ages 12 and up due to some language examples and some mature topics.
The cast includes: Karla Johnson as Amy Saunders, Maarja Melandar as Jackie Saunders-Moran, Andrea Anderson as Marilyn Saunders, Gwen Ward as Anne Shirley, Sheridan Wilson as Penny Parker, Marcia Stanton as Sara Crewe and Mataya Larson as Heidi.

Tribute to Neil Diamond by Matt Vee
Celebrate the music of Neil Diamond performed by Matt Vee, his family and friends with his performance “I Am… He Said” at 7:00 pm on January 21 at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts on the campus of Brainerd High School.
With songs like “Cracklin ‘Rosie”, “Song Sung Blue” and “Sweet Caroline”, Diamond has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
This nostalgic celebration stars Vee, nephew of late 1960s pop star and teenage idol Bobby Vee.
