San Bernardino County Performing Arts Showcase Features Students From 8 Districts – Daily Bulletin

More than 160 middle and high school students recently showcased their acting, dancing and singing skills at a performing arts showcase hosted by the San Bernardino County Schools Superintendent in conjunction with the California Arts Project.

The March 8 event at the California Theater of the Performing Arts in San Bernardino brought together student performers from eight school districts in San Bernardino County.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for students from arts programs across the county to come together for an outstanding performance,” county superintendent Ted Alejandre said in a news release. “We have so much talent among our students and seeing them in the spotlight in a professional and historic setting was truly amazing.”

“I’m thrilled to be with all my friends, especially after COVID, and it’s just a blessing to be able to play (in person) again,” Mercedes Villegas, a senior at AB Miller High School in Fontana and a member of school dance ensemble, said in the press release. “It just brings peace of mind that hard times don’t last forever and being able to dance and share this art with other people is a great opportunity.”

The county’s first performing arts showcase was in 2016 and the event has been held at the California Theater every year since then, except for a two-year hiatus in 2020 to 2021 due to the pandemic. .

Districts participating in this year’s performance were Fontana Unified School District, Snowline Joint Unified School District, Oro Grande School District, Ontario-Montclair School District, Redlands Unified School District, Colton Joint Unified School District, San Bernardino City Unified School District and Apple Valley.
