Mahesh Babu’s latest film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata (SVP) did great pre-release business. Actually did better business than Pawan Kalyan and Rana Dagubati’s Bheemla Nayak.
Breakdown of pre-launch activities
From the sale of Nizam theatrical rights, Sarkaru Vaari Paata creators earned Rs 36 crore, while collecting Rs 13.5 crore and Rs 13 crore from Ceded and Vizag distribution rights, respectively.
Andhra and Telangana theatrical rights earned Rs 98.5 crore for the producer. From the sale of Karnataka distribution rights, they earned Rs 8.5 crore while the rest of India rights earned Rs 14 crore.
SVP vs Bheemla Nayak, RRR, Pushpa
Sarkaru Vaari Paata’s worldwide theatrical rights raised Rs 125 crore. While the theatrical rights of Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak had earned Rs 108 crore for its producer.
Among Telugu films in recent years, SS Rajamouli’s RRR had achieved record pre-release activity by collecting Rs 512 crore. Since it is a pan-Indian film, he collected the said amount.
Nonetheless, SS Rajamouli’s creation had garnered Rs 226.5 crore from Andhra and Telangana theatrical rights alone. Next is Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam who earned Rs 205 crore from the sale of movie rights.
Interestingly, Radhe Shyam’s Andhra and Telangana theatrical rights fetched Rs 107 crore for directors, just Rs 8.5 crore more than Mahesh Babu’s last film.
The worldwide cinema rights to Allu Arjun’s blockbuster Pushpa had sold for Rs 150 crore with the Andhra and Telangana rights for Rs 102.5 crore for the creators. Last but not least, Chiranjeevi’s recently released Acharya earned Rs 140 crore from global cinema rights sales, with Andhra and Telangana rights reaching Rs 113.5 crore.
