Shea’s Performing Arts Center announces spring and summer camps

Shea’s Performing Arts Center has announced 2022 Spring and Summer Camps. Students of all ages will have the opportunity to practice acting, dance and singing with three different camps: Stories in Motion, Shea’s Summer Musical Theater Intensive and The Actor’s Edge Summer Acting Intensive.

Shea’s Director of Arts Engagement and Education, Thembi Duncan, said, “We place a high priority on helping young people develop their technique, confidence and creativity through our arts education programs. Now, more than ever, we are committed to meeting their socio-emotional needs and providing them with opportunities to express themselves through the arts.

Registration is now open for the spring break program, and summer registration is coming soon:

• Spring Break Theater Arts Program: Stories in Motion, April 11-15

Students will explore a variety of musical theater dance styles and design an original ensemble movement piece, which will be performed at Shea’s Smith Dance Studios for an invited audience of family and friends. (10-17 years old.)

Tuition: $150

• Shea’s Summer Musical Theater Intensive, July 25-August 5

This class is ideal for children and youth in grades 5-12 who love musical theatre. The 2022 Shea Summer Musical Theater Intensive offers musical theater instruction through interactive group sessions. Students will study acting, voice and dance, and create an original musical.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, July 25 to Friday, August 5

Shea’s 710 and Shea’s Buffalo Theaters

Tuition: $300

• Actor’s Edge Summer Theater Intensive, August 8-19

Theater students will use writing, improvisation, comedy, and acting techniques to design a comedic ensemble performance. The program will conclude with a presentation by actors at Shea’s Buffalo Theater for an invited audience of family and friends. (9th to 12th grade
