A shooting at CVPA High School in South St. Louis this morning left three people injured.

A shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in south St. Louis left at least three people dead, multiple injuries and a heavy police presence on the city’s south campus this morning.

“Police are on scene at Central Visual and Performing Arts this morning following reports of an active shooter and CVPA and Collegiate are on lockdown,” the official St. Louis Public Schools account tweeted. . “The shooter was quickly arrested by police inside the CVPA.”

The police department later clarified that three victims were injured.

Fox 2 news reported that “children and police were seen fleeing the school building” and that police could also be seen helping students as they scaled fences.

The station also reported that some students had taken refuge at the nearby Courtesy Diner.

The shooting took place around 9:12 a.m.

Central Visual and Performing Arts High School is at Kingshighway and Arsenal, near Tower Grove Park. It shares a building with another magnet school in the St. Louis public school system, the Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience.

St. Louis Community College’s Forest Park campus has also been quarantined.

“Students and teachers evacuating and fleeing campus. Heavy police presence,” Fox 2 tweeted, Amelia Mugavero reports.

The police are expected to give a press conference soon. We will update the story as new information becomes available.

UPDATE: An FBI spokesperson said in a statement: “Law enforcement is setting up a family reunification center in the Schnucks car park at Arsenal.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m.: The Post-shipment now reports that at least six people were injured in the shooting.

“Injuries ranged from gunshot wounds to cardiac arrest, but no conditions were available as of 10 a.m. Monday,” the report said. Post-shipment declared.

Witnesses who were in the building when the shooting happened say RFT that the fire alarm went off twice. “I thought it was a drill,” said a witness. “We heard the shot and ran back, locked the door and hid in a corner.”

The FBI says in a statement that the reunification location is no longer in the Schnucks parking lot. It will now be at Gateway High School.

UPDATE at 11:35 a.m.: According to the police, two people died: a teenager and a woman. Our original story has been updated to reflect this additional information.
